The Terminator Cromartie kidnaps the current wife of Sarah Connor’s ex-, in a convoluted plan to pursue his ultimate program mandate: kill John Connor.

I ask the question of whether it is proper writing for a killer robot drone to take on so many of the habits of a super-villain even as I find it not out-of-character for him to perform elaborate tasks for the sake of reaching a larger goal.

Assuming that a Terminator will go to great lengths to directly achieve something that indirectly leads to benefit in terms of a larger success, why does the machine seem to feel satisfaction at various points? Why did he appear to gloat in the Season 1 finale?

Did the FBI Agent’s association and subsequent encounters with Charley lead directly to the Terminator abducting the wife… or would that have occurred regardless?
