I have been pestered by Hidalgo trailers. I find the whole thing reprehensible. I should have written here somewhere an accouting of my original heckling of the trailer seen prior to my viewing of Master and Commander. In any case, it turns out what was “based on a true story” is in fact based on a series of ancient lies put forth by a historical confidence man and grand-scale liar.

It’s almost embarassing that this sort of information is found on Harry Knowles’ site. In any case, this kind of hero worship dedicate to a creature that is most certainly a villain borders on the most disgusting of human accounting. This is just shoddy.

Thanks to Eric Spratling for posting this on Monitor Duty.

Mr Spratling calls this man an equivalent to Michael Moore. He’s not far wrong.
