Mike Pence Won’t Force Gay Kids to be Straight
Governor Mike Pence was Congressman Mike Pence and is now President-Elect Mike Pence and I’m soon going to touch on the Hamilton Incident but first I want to to briefly skim some sexual politics. I loathe sexual politics. It often involves conflicting notions of identity, sexual identity, free will, religion, faith and minority groups.
I’m not going to deep-dive into profound meaningful crap about morality and policy. People don’t require that from me today (if ever) but if people ever read this they’ll get equipped for empathy.
Let’s get started on what the Left believes. To represent the Left, I will use an article from GQ, not a strawman. The author’s work will represent a hypothetical cross-section of an American ideological group, whom I will address. I would rather address a hypothetical than attack a strawman, but it’s awesome if a genuine leftist illustrates the idea I wish to attack.
Many on and of the American Left, if not all of them. believe that Mike Pence desires to use the power of the State to force homosexuals to undergo an experience designed to “repair” them, making them into heterosexuals, even if it harms them.
Conversion therapy is a controversial practice that seeks to change a person’s sexual orientation from gay to straight. It’s banned in five states including California, Oregon, Illinois, Vermont and New Jersey.
This is a falsehood. This is a lie that Democrats and others spread. I believe the lie is spread maliciously but without intentional dishonesty. These people wish to destroy Mike Pence because they believe Mike Pence wishes to destroy them. I understand that motivation and as a former political operative I applaud it. However because Governor Pence does not actually wish to force homosexuals to undergo “reparative therapy” (the other phrase for conversion therapy) then the quest to destroy him is premature so I condemn it. This is exactly why final solutions are bad ideas. What the Left needs to know is that Mike Pence doesn’t want conversation therapy forced upon anyone, but instead he wishes conversion therapy made available to people who want it of their own free will.
Pence’s own words on his campaign website from 2000 make his stance, at least at the time, very clear: “Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior.”
The irony is that the GQ article cites Politifact to prove that Governor Pence desired to change homosexual people to heterosexual people by force, when the Politifact article only states that Pence wants an option available for people. Options are the direct opposite of force in this sort of context.
Every Democrat and leftist and liberal and progressive… really everyone should know the absolute truth that Mike Pence does not wish to change your sexual orientation, or anyone else’s.
I don’t know if someone actually can successfully change from homosexual to heterosexual via any sort of practice, be it psychological or spiritual or whatever, and I don’t really care right now. Right now I’m thinking that I’m missing Westworld. I care, mildly, that people know that Mike Pence is not “a proponent of gay conversion therapy,” and he certainly is not for using “taxpayer money to literally electrocute the gay out of teenagers”. He stated that if anyone wants the option available than taxpayer money should pay for that. I am literally opposed to using taxpayer money for that. That is a left-wing authoritarian use of government money and it’s awful idea.
Now let’s assume that someone from the Left reads this and believes me. We can move on to help the Right. Conservatives, “conservatives”, Republicans, and some Christians need to understand that many of the Left still sees any attempt to convert homosexuals into heterosexuals as abominable, destructive, and harmful. They see it as an act of hate and a cause of suicide.
Psychotherapeutic modalities to convert or “repair” homosexuality are based on developmental theories whose scientific validity is questionable. Furthermore, anecdotal reports of “cures” are counterbalanced by anecdotal claims of psychological harm. In the last four decades, “reparative” therapists have not produced any rigorous scientific research to substantiate their claims of cure. Until there is such research available, [the American Psychiatric Association] recommends that ethical practitioners refrain from attempts to changeindividuals’ sexual orientation, keeping in mind the medical dictum to first, do no harm.
The potential risks of reparative therapy are great, including depression, anxiety and self-destructive behavior, since therapist alignment with societal prejudices against homosexuality may reinforce self-hatred already experienced by the patient
So a Republican Governor desiring to provide a form of conversion therapy to the willing may still come off as a form of attack. There: I just used words in an attempt to prevent people from talking past one another.
I believe Snopes.com supports my view on the derived notion of Mike Pence and electroshock conversion therapy.
This amuses me because I keep seeing lame Republicans present the Snopes website as just a leftwing platform to shield leftists and launch attacks on conservatives.
Next in Arndt State I’m going to attempt to present the truth about the Hamilton Incident, whereupon the presenters, stars, featured artists behind a now-famous Broadway musical attempt to publicly reach out to the Vice President Elect of the United States, Mike Pence, and his boss Donald Trump stages a public demonstration that he’s a weak sauce beta male punk that gets easily tweaked by theater people.
Make no mistake: what the Hamilton people did was a hardcore Ted Cruz move, and that’s not a compliment.
After that I tackle the Michigan Republican state chairman race, now seemingly between incumbent Ronna Romney McDaniel and Trump State Campaign Director Scott Hagerstrom…. and why it’s a farce, but a fun farce.
Further on I’ll continue my series on Rigging Elections, which gets the interesting twist that Donald Trump actually won the Presidential election in 2016…. hopefully at some point after that I can peal the onion on why.
Sooner than some of that Arndt Sports is looking at firefan…. join my firefan team.
